About the Author & the Mission

Hi, I’m Maze E., and this site is what happens when a shy writer decides to practice in public.

By Maze E. began with a little black journal called Write the Story and a very familiar habit: buying something inspiring, tucking it on a shelf, and then forgetting it existed. When I finally opened it again after some writing homework, the prompts sparked ideas in new directions. The words flowed easier and the pages felt unlike anything I’d written before—softer in some places, sharper in others. Maybe even better.

But “better” is hard to measure when everything lives in a private notebook, so this site is my way of finding out.

By Maze E. is where I post short fiction and Ramblings—finished stories, half‑feral thoughts, and everything in between—in public on purpose. It’s part portfolio, part practice space, and part cozy corner for anyone who loves slipping into a new world for a few minutes at a time. Some pieces are directly inspired by prompt words; others are what happens when those ideas spill over into new worlds. I’m here to see how my writing changes over time, to learn from what lands (and what doesn’t), and to invite you along for the ride.

You’ll find short stories, series‑style threads, and blog posts about the messy middle of creativity. I’m also slowly building out freelance offerings—book reviews, story outlines, arc reading, and developmental editing—for writers who want the same kind of thoughtful, gentle feedback I’m chasing for my own work.

If you’re reading, you’re already part of this experiment. Your comments, quiet reactions, and even a simple “cookie”—all of it helps me understand which colors on the page are starting to glow and what needs more ink.

If you pick up and start working through the same Piccadilly journal or any other prompts, you’re more than welcome to check whether I used all the words—or to write along with me.

The mission of By Maze E. is to be a gentle place for stories in progress—for mine, and for yours if we end up working together. To practice storytelling in public, to build worlds in watercolor instead of stone, and to make room for other writers who are learning out loud too.

If you’re reading this, thank you for stepping into this experiment with me. You’re welcome to leave detailed thoughts, tiny hearts, cookies, or simple “I was here” messages. Every response is another brushstroke on the picture of what this space can be.

Happy reading, and welcome to By Maze E.

— Maze E.
