Accessibility Statement for By Maze E.

By Maze E. is meant to be a soft, welcoming corner of the internet where stories—and the people reading them—matter. That includes readers who use assistive technologies or have different access needs. This Accessibility Statement explains how I approach accessibility on this site, what I’m working toward, and how you can reach me if you run into a barrier.

Our Commitment

By Maze E. is committed to making this website usable and enjoyable for as many people as possible, including people with disabilities. Accessibility is an ongoing, evolving process, not a one‑time project. As the site grows, I aim to review and improve pages regularly so that new features, layouts, and story formats are considered with accessibility in mind.

Accessibility Standards

I strive to design and develop this website in line with the principles of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of abilities and assistive technologies.

While I cannot guarantee that every page or element currently meets every success criterion, WCAG 2.1 AA acts as the north star for design decisions, theme adjustments, and future improvements.

What I’m Doing to Support Accessibility

Some of the steps I either currently take or am working toward include:

  • Readable text and color choices

    • Using clear typography and aiming for sufficient contrast between text and backgrounds, especially when using watercolor and pastel effects.

    • Avoiding color‑only indicators wherever possible, so important information isn’t lost for users with color vision differences.

  • Structured headings and content

    • Organizing pages with proper heading levels, lists, and landmarks so that screen readers can navigate sections in a logical order.

    • Keeping navigation consistent across pages to reduce confusion.

  • Alt text for meaningful images

    • Providing alternative text for story images, cover art, and other meaningful visuals, so that users who cannot see the images can still access the essential information.

    • Treating purely decorative elements (such as some watercolor textures or sparkles) as decorative so they don’t add noise for screen reader users.

  • Keyboard and assistive technology support

    • Aiming to ensure that links, buttons, and form fields can be reached and activated using a keyboard alone.

    • Avoiding interaction patterns that trap focus or require precise mouse actions whenever possible.

  • Forms and labels

    • Using clear labels and instructions for contact forms and any future sign‑up or purchase forms.

    • Providing helpful error messages when something goes wrong, instead of silent failures.

Accessibility work is ongoing, and improvements will continue over time as I learn, receive feedback, and update the site.

Known or Possible Limitations

Despite my efforts, some parts of this website may not yet be fully accessible. For example:

  • Older posts or images may not have ideal alt text or descriptions.

  • Certain visual flourishes, gradients, or overlays may reduce contrast on some screens or devices.

  • Embedded third‑party widgets, video players, or tools (if used) may not fully meet the same accessibility goals, even when the rest of the page does.

If you encounter any of these issues—or anything else that makes the site hard to use—I would be grateful to hear from you so I can investigate and improve where possible.

Supported Browsers and Assistive Technologies

This website is intended to work with modern web browsers and common assistive technologies, including:

  • Current versions of major browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge

  • Screen readers and keyboard navigation

  • Standard settings for text resizing and zoom

Older browsers or very outdated devices may not provide the best experience. If you’re having trouble and can share which browser and device you’re using, that information is very helpful when troubleshooting.

Feedback and Contact

If you experience any difficulty using By Maze E., notice an accessibility issue, or have suggestions for improvement, please let me know.

When you contact me, it helps if you can include:

  • The page URL where you experienced the issue

  • A brief description of what was difficult (for example, “this button is not reachable by keyboard” or “the text is hard to read on this background”)

  • Any assistive technology, browser, or device you were using, if you’re comfortable sharing that

You can reach me at any time through the Contact page on this website. Links to the Contact page are available in the main navigation and at the bottom of primary pages.

I review accessibility feedback in good faith and will do my best to respond and address issues within a reasonable period of time.

Ongoing Improvement

Accessibility is part of how I care for this space and the people who visit it. As By Maze E. evolves—with new stories, layouts, and features—I plan to continue reviewing and updating both the site and this statement.

Thank you for reading, and for being part of making this creative corner more welcoming to everyone.
